Hope you are well and staying warm here, or in a warmer climate. I enjoyed half of January visiting my children and first grandchild in Austin, TX and the other half wondering why I didn’t stay longer 🙂
I also found time to get a jump start on this week’s lesson, beginning with a resolution of sorts- a goal to travel carry-on luggage only. I’m a terrible packer who dreads the scale at check-in almost as much as planning my travel wardrobe. Overpacking no longer fits my life.
My personal style has evolved once again and I am thrilled to take cues from what I learned in Paris & Austin about the abundance of joy found in a curated life – beginning with a closet that fits my life and carry- on era!
I started with basic quality pieces that fit me well and can be mixed and matched to relieve me of decision fatigue, and spontaneous purchases – especially online.
Taking my time to move each chosen article of clothing from my larger closets to the new small curated closet. Slowing this process to celebrate the history of my clothes has probably advanced this process the most. If it doesn’t fit me physically or emotionally, it gets gently folded into a donation bag. No rush or regret. In fact, I also invested in alterations for a few gems that have been hidden for years!
Lesson: How to curate your life
Swedish Death Cleaning isn’t about following rules or trends — it’s about choosing what fits your life, right now. What mattered once may no longer belong to this season, and that’s not failure — it’s clarity.
