Welcome to the Gentle Art of the Swedish Death Cleaning

Hello! if we’d just met, this is what I’d tell you.I teach something called The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. Don’t let the name throw you—it’s not about death, and it’s definitely not about scrubbing floors. It comes from a Swedish tradition called döstädning, rooted in a simple, generous idea: we tend to our things so the people we love won’t have to someday.

At its heart, Swedish Death Cleaning is about clarity, kindness, and intention. It asks gentle questions instead of giving orders. What still serves you? What tells your story well? What feels like a burden—emotionally or physically—that you’re ready to release? It’s not decluttering for the sake of minimalism. It’s curating a life that feels lighter, more honest, and more livable right now.

I teach this as a class because I’ve seen what happens when people are given permission to go slowly, to be thoughtful, and to let go without guilt. It’s helped people feel calmer in their homes, clearer in their decisions, and surprisingly more connected to what truly matters to them.

Because the work doesn’t happen all at once—and because it’s so much easier with company—I also share a bi-weekly letter. Every two weeks, I offer one simple lesson. One small way to look at your home, your stuff, or your habits differently. Nothing overwhelming. Just a quiet nudge in the right direction.

Think of it as a note from a friend who’s walking alongside you—reminding you that this isn’t about getting rid of your life.

It’s about curating it!
