Welcome to The Saturday House

Issue No. 1 [Aka Madeline’s weekly newsletter]

Paris felt like home the minute we walked into our small boutique hotel.

At first, I assumed the flower shop in the lobby belonged to the hotel. The florist was darting in and out with armfuls of blooms, setting up for the weekend crowd. But no — it was a partnership. Of course it was.

The scent of fresh flowers filled the space while a chic young woman quietly arranged small displays of beauty and skincare products nearby. Nothing shouted. Everything whispered.

A small bar doubled as the check-in desk, then effortlessly became a coffee café by morning and a wine bar by afternoon. Homemade pastries sat under glass domes. Someone was always brewing something. Someone was always cleaning. Someone else was lingering. Come one, come all. Comme ci, comme ça.

We dropped our bags and immediately wanted to talk — about Saturday things. About nothing in particular. Guests drifted through: first-timers discovering the hotel, devoted regulars headed to the yoga studio, locals stopping in for a fresh bouquet or a quiet coffee.

It felt less like a hotel and more like a living room. I caught myself thinking the same thing I always do in spaces that get it right: I can see myself living here. A feeling I know well when touring a house that speaks to me.

Before our room was even ready, we’d already made a handful of neighborly friends. And that’s when it clicked – this is the feeling I keep chasing.

Not perfection. Not polish. But presence. The Saturday House isn’t a place. It’s a rhythm. A way of welcoming. A reminder that the door doesn’t always have to be closed. And this is where we begin. You’re always welcome here.

This is The Saturday House — a weekly virtual gathering

where the coffee’s poured and the conversation finds its way home…

and inevitably to real estate.

Joyful Quiet Pleasures On Repeat in 2026

Last year had more ups & downs that our Canyon lands adventures + the cobblestone streets of Paris combined.

It was the little things & simple pleasures that grounded me regardless of the elevation.

Click below to view mine. I would also love hear what your simple pleasures are. Please let reply and let me know.

Note to self: Don’t trip over the little things to look for the big ones. in 2026
